Amends sections 5 and 6 of 1978 PA 90 regarding youth work permits by clarifying that the Department of Education, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, establishes requirements for work permit applications and issuance.

Requires work permits issued to minors under 16 years of age to clearly indicate the minor's age status on the permit itself.

Specifies that the Department of Education must promulgate rules for work permit issuance standards including evidence of age, work standards established by the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, and statutory compliance requirements.

Prohibits charging any fees for work permits or related records required under the youth employment act.

Effective date: March 24, 2021.
