SB 957 Summary

• Creates a special retiree license for retired emergency medical services personnel (medical first responders, EMTs, paramedics, and EMS instructors) who wish to volunteer for indigent patients or those in medically underserved areas.

• Requires applicants to demonstrate previous licensure in good standing, document that they will receive no compensation for services, and complete 2/3 of continuing education requirements if out of practice for 3+ years.

• Exempts special retiree licensees from licensing fees for both initial issuance and renewal.

• Subjects licensed retirees to the same professional requirements as active licensees, including continuing education and disciplinary action.

• Limits retirees to performing only activities consistent with their prior licensure, education, and approved medical protocols.
