SB 980 Summary

• Amends the State School Aid Act of 1979 to change references from "Department of Community Health" to "Department of Health and Human Services" throughout Section 167.

• Changes the grade reporting language from "grades K through 12" to "grades K to 12" and modifies immunization reporting requirements to include students in grades 7 and 12 enrolling for the first time.

• Removes language limiting certain reporting requirements to "beginning in 2014-2015" to apply immunization reporting requirements uniformly to all applicable school years.

• Maintains existing penalties: districts or intermediate districts failing to meet 90% immunization documentation by November 1 or 95% by February 1 face a 5% withholding of state school aid funds until compliance is achieved.

• Effective only if Senate Bill No. 981 is also enacted into law.
