SB 981 Summary

• Expands immunization requirements to include students enrolling in grade 12 for the first time, in addition to existing requirements for first-time enrollees in other grades and grade 7.

• Changes department name references from "department of community health" to "department of health and human services" throughout the statute.

• Modifies reporting language by replacing "shall" with "must" in sections requiring schools to report immunization status and vision screening results to the health department.

• Changes the grade range descriptor from "K through 12" to "K to 12" in immunization reporting requirements.

• Bill only takes effect if Senate Bill No. 979 of the 100th Legislature is also enacted into law.
