SB 1005 Summary

• Removes requirement for unemployment agency to consider all base period separations involving specific disqualifications (sections 29(1)(h), (i), (j), (k), (m), (n)) when determining claimant's nonmonetary eligibility and qualification for benefits.

• Requires unemployment agency to issue notification to claimants of their rights and responsibilities within 2 weeks after initial benefit payment and again 6 months after initial payment.

• Notification must be provided in claimant's preferred form of communication and include information about determinations, penalties, appeal rights, and agency rules and regulations.

• Maintains existing provisions for monetary determinations, employer notification, reconsideration processes, and employer protest procedures for unemployment benefit claims.
