SB 1052 Summary

• Amends the definition of "qualified educational expenses" in Michigan's Promise Zone program to include fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction, in addition to tuition and fees.

• Allows these additional educational expense categories to be included at the discretion of individual promise zone authorities in their development plans.

• Applies to eligible students living in promise zones who have graduated from public or nonpublic high schools located within those zones.

• Effective date: March 24, 2021.
