MI SB1158

Prohibits individuals licensed to carry concealed pistols from carrying them in the Michigan State Capitol Building.

Maintains existing prohibitions on concealed pistols in schools, child care centers, sports arenas, bars/taverns, places of worship, entertainment facilities with 2,500+ capacity, hospitals, and college dormitories/classrooms.

Exempts law enforcement officers, retired law enforcement, security personnel, private investigators, and other specified government officials from the concealed pistol restrictions.

Establishes penalties for violations: first violation is a civil infraction with up to $500 fine and 6-month license suspension; second violation is a misdemeanor with up to $1,000 fine and license revocation; third or subsequent violation is a felony with up to 4 years imprisonment or $5,000 fine and license revocation.

Takes effect only if Senate Bill No. 1159 of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law.
