• Amends MCL 777.16g to add a new felony offense for making a false report of a crime to law enforcement based solely on the alleged perpetrator's race or ethnicity (MCL 750.147c).

• Classifies the offense as a Class G felony with a maximum statutory penalty of 2 years imprisonment, applicable to second or subsequent offenses.

• Includes the new offense in the sentencing guidelines table for crimes enumerated in Chapter 750 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment into law but is contingent on Senate Bill No. 1167 of the 100th Legislature also being enacted.
