SB 1172 Summary

• Superintendent of Public Instruction shall appoint 5 members to an advisory committee within the department to develop and update a dyslexia resource guide.

• Advisory committee composition requires one member with dyslexia intervention experience employed by the department or school board/administrator entity; one member from higher education with dyslexia screening expertise; two members employed by school districts with dyslexia expertise; and one member who has dyslexia or is a parent of someone with dyslexia.

• Defines "dyslexia" as that term defined in section 1280i.

• Bill takes effect only if Senate Bills 1173, 1174, and 1175 from the 100th Legislature are also enacted into law.
