MI HB4001

Prohibits Michigan legislators from voting on bills, joint resolutions, or alternative measures if they have knowledge of a personal or professional interest in the legislation.

Defines "personal or professional interest" as an interest providing substantial pecuniary benefit to the legislator, their immediate family member, or an entity to which they are financially or legally obligated.

Makes each house solely responsible for judging member conduct under this section, with willful violations subject to appropriate disciplinary action by that house.

Specifies that violations do not nullify or affect the validity of a member's vote cast in violation of the section.

Requires enactment of House Bills 4682 and 4683 from the 101st Legislature before this bill takes effect.
