Removes requirement that Michigan merit examination include a workforce readiness assessment component that measures reading and mathematics skills for employer use.

Makes workforce readiness assessment optional rather than mandatory, allowing school districts and public school academies to voluntarily offer such assessments if students request them.

Requires state to reimburse school districts and public school academies that offer optional workforce readiness assessments to students.

Requires the department to submit annual reports to the legislature by June 1st documenting the number of districts/academies offering these assessments and the number of students who participated.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment; also makes technical corrections by replacing "shall" with "must" throughout section 1279g and removing the phrase "beginning with assessments conducted during the 2016-2017 school year" from genocide curriculum requirements.
