MI HB4201

Prohibits unauthorized individuals from entering a school bus without the driver's permission, with exceptions for pupils, preschool enrollees, teachers, school employees, authorized chaperones, and persons authorized for safety or property protection.

Prohibits any person from impeding the progress or operation of a school bus.

Establishes civil infraction penalties of up to $500 for violations of unauthorized entry or obstruction of school bus operations, processed under the Michigan vehicle code.

Maintains existing restrictions on transporting unauthorized individuals while transporting pupils to and from school, with a civil fine of up to $100 for violations.

Effective date: October 11, 2021, contingent on House Bill 4203 being enacted into law.
