Amends the election law to allow candidates for state senator or representative to pay a nonrefundable $100 filing fee instead of filing nominating petitions.

Filing fee payment is governed by the same provisions and deadlines as nominating petitions, with deadline of 4 p.m. on the fifteenth Tuesday before the August primary.

Filing fee must be deposited in the general fund of the candidate's county of residence and used only for the purchase and maintenance of voting equipment.

Applies to candidates in districts comprising one county or less (filed with county clerk) or more than one county (filed with secretary of state).

Takes immediate effect upon approval on December 23, 2021.
