Expands scope of practice for nurse anesthetists to include administration of anesthesia and analgesic agents, patient assessments, and development of care plans without physician supervision if certain requirements are met.

Allows nurse anesthetists to practice without supervision if they have either 3+ years of experience with 4,000+ hours in a health care facility or hold a doctor of nurse anesthesia practice or doctor of nursing practice degree, and are part of a patient-centered care team.

Permits nurse anesthetists to provide anesthesia services in health care facilities (hospitals, surgical centers, physician offices, imaging facilities) if the facility has a policy in place and a qualified health care professional is immediately available in person or via telemedicine.

Requires nurse anesthetists in freestanding pain clinics to remain under physician supervision.

Adds nurse anesthetists holding specialty certification to the definition of "prescriber" under the pharmacy regulations for purposes of prescribing anesthesia and analgesic agents within the perioperative, periobstetrical, or periprocedural periods.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment; approved by Governor July 13, 2021; effective date October 11, 2021.
