Amends vehicle towing and impound procedures under Michigan law to require police agencies to enter impounded vehicles into the law enforcement information network (LEIN) within 24 hours of ordering impound.

Allows vehicle owners or legally entitled possessors to reclaim vehicles before actual towing by paying a reasonable service fee, except in cases involving suspected stolen vehicles, evidence preservation, or traffic crashes.

Requires towing agencies to notify police within 24 hours if an impounded vehicle is released, and establishes a 7-day redemption period before a vehicle is deemed abandoned.

For vehicles impounded under evidence or crime-related grounds, establishes a 20-30 day release window after which the towing agency must notify police to enter the vehicle as abandoned if not redeemed.

Effective date: August 24, 2022 (90 days after enactment).
