Child care centers currently licensed in multiple occupancy buildings must notify the department within 90 days of any changes in occupancy or use by other occupants in the building

New applicants for child care center licensure in multiple occupancy buildings must disclose the building's multiple occupancy status and describe the nature and character of all other occupants and their uses

Department must inspect child care centers in multiple occupancy buildings before issuing or renewing licenses to verify reasonable mitigation measures protect children's health, safety, and well-being

Child care centers in multiple occupancy buildings may be required to: be self-contained with in-unit bathrooms, secure against unauthorized entry, separate from hazardous operations, prohibit alcohol transport/consumption during operating hours, schedule separate outdoor area use, and meet other staffing and operational requirements

Rescind Michigan Administrative Code Rule 400.8560 and take effect immediately upon governor approval (June 23, 2022)
