Department must refer reports to prosecuting attorney and local law enforcement within 24 hours if they meet certain criteria, or commence investigation of suspected child abuse or neglect.

Department investigator must advise individuals under investigation of the investigator's name, whom they represent, and specific complaints or allegations made against them.

Persons named as perpetrators in confirmed Category I, II, or III cases (not central registry cases) may request amendment of inaccurate reports within 180 days of written notice, with the department establishing an administrative review process.

Department must notify mandated reporters in writing of case disposition, including the determination made and whether legal action was commenced, without disclosing personally identifying information about others in the report.

All department employees investigating child abuse or neglect must receive training on legal duties to protect constitutional and statutory rights of children and families from initial contact through service provision.
