Expands the definition of medical professionals whose attendance within 30 days (or 48 hours for home hospice care) exempts a death from medical examiner investigation to include physician's assistants and nurse practitioners, removing registered nurses from this provision.

Defines "nurse practitioner" and "physician's assistant" by reference to the public health code (MCL 333.2804) and updates the physician definition to reference MCL 333.17097 instead of 333.17084.

Requires attending physicians or their authorized designees to determine the accurate cause of death for investigations under subsection (1)(c), and requires notification to county medical examiners in subsection (3)(2) to include the designee language.

Replaces "shall" with "must" in subsection (3)(2) regarding hospital notification when multiple individuals with similar attributes are involved in the same incident.

Makes this amendment effective only upon enactment of House Bill No. 5615 of the 101st Legislature.
