Increases penalties for assault on health professionals and medical volunteers: enhanced fines of $1,000 (simple assault), $2,000 (assault with serious injury), and $4,000 (assault with weapon), compared to standard fines for other assault victims.

Excludes patients receiving treatment from enhanced fine provisions, allowing them to still be prosecuted under standard assault penalties.

Requires health facility operators licensed under the public health code to post signs in prominent locations notifying the public of enhanced penalties for assaulting health professionals or medical volunteers.

Defines "health professional" as individuals employed by hospitals or health care providers whose duties involve direct or indirect patient care requiring licensure, certification, or regulation under state law.

Defines "medical volunteer" as individuals volunteering at hospitals or health care facilities whose duties involve direct or indirect patient care under facility direction.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment.
