Superintendent of Public Instruction shall appoint 10 members to an advisory committee within the Department of Education to aid in developing, adopting, and updating a dyslexia resource guide.

Advisory committee must include one member with dyslexia intervention experience from a school board/administrator organization, one higher education expert in dyslexia screening and evidence-based interventions, and two school district employees with dyslexia expertise.

Committee membership also includes one individual with a dyslexia diagnosis or parent/guardian of someone with dyslexia, one speech-language pathologist with dyslexia expertise, and one school psychologist nominee from the Michigan Association of School Psychologists.

Two additional committee members shall be selected by the Department and must meet criteria of any of the other member categories; one member must have expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction for English language learners.

Bill takes effect only if House Bills 5937, 5934, and 5936 of the 101st Legislature are also enacted into law.
