MI HB6118

Establishes the Michigan legislative medal of freedom as the highest civilian medal of the state under the existing Michigan legislative state medal program.

Medal may be awarded by concurrent resolution to living or deceased individuals for valorous or heroic deeds in saving a life, or for injury, death, or threat thereof incurred in service to the state, community, or for the health and welfare of other individuals.

Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader shall present the medal in the presence of sponsoring legislators and the district representative and senator of the recipient's current or former residence.

Council administrator must submit four proposed medal designs to the Speaker and Senate Majority Leader, who jointly determine the final design.

Bill does not take effect unless House Bills 6119, 6120, and 6121 are enacted into law.
