MI HB6120

Establishes the Michigan legislative medal of valor as the second highest legislatively issued military award in the state, awarded through concurrent resolution by the legislature.

Allows the medal to be awarded to living or deceased service members who were born in Michigan, were Michigan residents when entering military service, or died in the state.

Requires recipients to perform specific acts of bravery or outstanding courage involving personal hazard, voluntary risk of life, and heroic accomplishment that sets them apart from their comrades, with a lesser standard of gallantry than the Michigan legislative medal of honor.

Designates the Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader to present the medal in the presence of sponsoring legislators and district representatives, with the council administrator submitting four proposed medal designs for final approval.

Contingent on enactment of House Bills 6118, 6119, and 6121 during the 101st Legislature.
