Prohibits individuals from possessing, carrying, or attempting to possess firearms, explosives, knives of any length, razors, box cutters, and dangerous weapons in sterile areas of commercial airports.

Establishes misdemeanor penalties of up to 1 year imprisonment or $1,000 fine for violations of the weapons prohibition.

Creates felony penalties of up to 10 years imprisonment or $10,000 fine when prohibited weapons are possessed while boarding aircraft, placing items on aircraft, or committing a felony.

Exempts peace officers, Department of Corrections employees, active military members, National Guard members, security personnel, court officers, and airline/airport employees acting within their authorized duties.

Redefines "sterile area" to mean airport portions controlled by Transportation Security Administration or aircraft operators under specific federal regulations, replacing previous reference to federal aviation regulations.
