Requires school districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies to incorporate at least 1 unit of age- and grade-appropriate instruction on Asian American and Pacific Islander history into their history curriculum beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

Mandates instruction cover contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in government, arts, humanities, and sciences, as well as their role in U.S. economic, cultural, social, and political development.

Requires coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander history specific to Michigan and the Midwest, including past discriminatory policies, and their contributions to civil rights from the nineteenth century forward.

Authorizes the superintendent of public instruction to develop and provide instructional materials as guidelines for schools implementing the requirement.

Allows schools to meet requirements through virtual courses or online instruction, subject to other state laws, with unit length determined by each school's board.
