Creates a mining advisory committee within the department to advise on matters pertaining to mining and reclamation of mining areas

Advisory committee consists of 6 individuals with knowledge of mining and 2 individuals representing the general public, appointed by the director

Director shall appoint initial members within 90 days, with staggered terms of 1, 2, 3, and 4 years; subsequent members serve 4-year terms

Committee must meet at least quarterly, conduct business in compliance with the open meetings act, and operate under freedom of information act requirements

Members receive no compensation but may be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses; majority vote required for committee actions
