Prohibits local units of government from enacting or enforcing laws, ordinances, policies, or rules that prevent peace officers or local officials from communicating or cooperating with federal officials regarding immigration status.

Requires local units of government with existing sanctuary policies to bring them into compliance within 60 days of the act's effective date; non-compliant policies are void and unenforceable.

Allows residents of non-compliant jurisdictions to bring civil actions in circuit court or file complaints with the attorney general beginning 61 days after the act's effective date.

Grants courts authority to issue injunctions, order policy amendments or repeal, award damages and attorney fees to challengers, and assess civil fines of $2,500 to $7,500 against officials who knowingly and willfully violate the act.

Defines "local unit of government" to include counties, cities, villages, townships, charter townships, and related boards, departments, commissions, and agencies.
