Eliminates the $50 fee that applicants must pay to the Michigan Department of State Police when submitting an application to set aside criminal convictions.

Replaces "shall" with "must" throughout the statute for grammatical consistency, without changing the substantive requirements for setting aside convictions.

Maintains existing waiting periods for filing applications: 7 years for multiple felony convictions, 5 years for serious misdemeanors or single felony convictions, and 3 years for other misdemeanors.

Preserves all existing conditions for approval including no pending charges, no new convictions during the waiting period, and court determination that circumstances warrant setting aside the conviction(s) consistent with public welfare.

Takes effect March 9, 2022.
