MI HB6384

Establishes an Upper Peninsula (UP) Natural Resources Commission with exclusive authority to regulate sport fishing in waters of the Upper Peninsula, separate from the statewide commission's authority.

Defines "Waters of the Upper Peninsula" to include Lake Superior, the St. Marys River, and all inland lakes, streams, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water located in the Upper Peninsula.

Requires both the UP commission and statewide commission to utilize principles of sound scientific management, hold public meetings, provide 30 days' notice to legislative committees before issuing fishing regulations, and consider public input.

Makes grammatical and stylistic corrections throughout the statute, including changing "shall" to "must," capitalizing scientific names and geographic references, and updating terminology from "person" to "individual."

Bill's effectiveness is conditional upon simultaneous enactment of HB 6385, HB 6386, HB 6383, and HB 6387 by the 101st Legislature.
