MI HB6543

Establishes qualification requirements for Michigan Secretary of State employees who receive or review campaign finance statements and reports.

Prohibits such employees from being or having been within the past 6 years: declared candidates for partisan federal, state, or local office; elected officials to partisan office; officers or members of political party governing bodies; or paid consultants/employees of elected officials, political candidates, or political action committees.

Bars employees from being parents, stepparents, children, stepchildren, or spouses of individuals meeting the disqualifications listed above.

Requires employees to not be disqualified for appointed or elected office under existing law.
