SB 182 Summary

• Expands the Certificate of Need Commission from 11 to 13 members by adding two individuals representing the general public, with one required from a county with population less than 40,000.

• Changes appointment language to require governor approval with senate advice and consent, maintaining the requirement that no more than 6 members be from the same major political party.

• Removes the January 1, 2004 deadline for revising certificate of need review standards and clarifies that standards must include title XIX participation requirements.

• Conditional enactment: Bill takes effect only if Senate Bill 181 and Senate Bill 183 of the 101st Legislature are also enacted.
