Schools must develop drinking water management plans within 15 months specifying locations of filtered bottle-filling stations (at least 1 per 100 occupants), filtered faucets, and non-potable water outlets.

Schools must install all filtered water stations and faucets by end of 2024-2025 school year and shut off or disable non-filtered drinking water outlets providing water for human consumption.

Annual water sampling and testing required for all filtered water outlets to ensure lead concentration does not exceed 5 parts per billion; schools must immediately shut down outlets exceeding this threshold and notify parents and the department.

Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy must provide plan templates, staff training, and guidance on equipment selection and water sampling within 6 months of the act's effective date.

Creates the school and child care center clean drinking water fund to provide grants for acquisition, installation, maintenance, and filter replacement of filtered water stations and testing costs.
