SB 207 Summary

• Permits public bodies to hold electronic meetings via telephone or video conferencing in compliance with the Open Meetings Act.

• Before June 30, 2021: Electronic meetings allowed under any circumstances, retroactive to March 18, 2020.

• July 1 through December 31, 2021: Electronic meetings only for circumstances requiring accommodation of absent members, with limited exceptions for local states of emergency or disaster.

• After December 31, 2021: Electronic meetings permitted only to accommodate members absent due to military duty.

• Requires two-way communication allowing all participants to hear and be heard, advance notice posted on public websites at least 18 hours before meetings, and prohibition on requiring public registration to participate.
