Senate Bill 306 Summary

• Secretary of state must prepare and submit a report to the legislature at least 60 days before each general November election listing county, city, and township clerks not current with required election training.

• Report must identify clerks delinquent on initial instruction under section 31(1)(l), training under section 33(1) and (2), and continuing election education training under section 33(4).

• Secretary of state must post the report on the department of state website and send notice by mail or email to non-compliant clerks at least 90 days before each general November election.

• Clerks who provide satisfactory evidence of current training status within 30 days of notice will be removed from the report and not included in the legislature submission.

• Secretary of state must immediately remove a clerk's name from the posted report upon receipt of satisfactory evidence that the clerk has completed required election education training.
