Superintendent of public instruction appoints 10-member advisory committee within the department to aid in dyslexia-related work as described in section 1280i.

Committee composition includes one member with dyslexia intervention experience; one from higher education with dyslexia screening and intervention expertise; two school district employees with dyslexia expertise; one individual with dyslexia diagnosis or parent/guardian of individual with diagnosis.

Committee also includes one speech-language pathologist with dyslexia and structured language expertise; one school psychologist nominee with dyslexia expertise; one member with English language learner literacy instruction expertise; and two additional members selected by department meeting criteria of other positions.

Bill defines "dyslexia" and "structured language and literacy" by reference to section 1280i.

Bill takes effect only if Senate Bills 380, 381, and 382 of the 101st Legislature are also enacted into law.
