Prohibits the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services from requiring prior authorization for certain prescription drugs under Medicaid, including anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and noncontrolled antianxiety drugs.

Exempts from prior authorization requirement prescription drugs cross-indicated for central nervous system conditions and drugs recognized for treating conditions in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, including substance use disorder.

Requires coverage without prior authorization for prescription drugs recognized to prevent or treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), and drugs for treating cancer, organ replacement, epilepsy, and opioid withdrawal.

Applies exemptions to drugs provided through health maintenance organization contracts with the department and does not prohibit contracting with managed care organizations as long as contracts comply with these provisions.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment, with the act ordered to take immediate effect; approved March 10, 2022, with effective date of June 8, 2022.
