SB 882 Summary

• Adds definition of "caregiving expenses" to campaign finance law, defined as costs of direct care, protection, and supervision of a child or person with disability/medical condition, excluding private school tuition, medical expenses, tutoring, and payments to relatives unless they operate professional daycare services.

• Permits candidates to use campaign funds to pay caregiving expenses that result directly from engaging in campaign activities.

• Permits public officials to use campaign funds to pay caregiving expenses that result directly from carrying out the business of an elective office.

• Updates grammatical language in campaign finance definitions, changing "shall be" to "is" in section 5 regarding committee requirements.

• Renumbers existing definitions in section 3 to accommodate new "caregiving expenses" definition as subsection (3).
