SB 941 Summary

• Waives teacher and school administrator performance evaluation requirements for the 2021-2022 school year for eligible school districts (defined as districts with 7,000-7,100 pupils in an intermediate school district with 170,000-190,000 pupils).

• Waives Michigan Merit Examination administration requirements for eligible school districts in the 2021-2022 school year if the U.S. Department of Education grants a waiver from federal assessment requirements.

• Waives school accountability letter grades and rankings (under section 1280g) for eligible school districts in the 2021-2022 school year.

• Makes minor technical corrections throughout the revised school code, including changing "shall" to "must" and updating cross-references to reflect previous statutory changes.

• Takes effect only if Senate Bill No. 940 of the 101st Legislature is enacted into law.
