School districts and public school academies are strongly encouraged to include learning objectives about Indian boarding schools in core academic curriculum for grades 8-12 beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

Defines "Indian boarding schools" as entities designed for cultural assimilation of Indigenous children through forced relocation from families to distant residential facilities where Native identities, languages, and beliefs were forcibly suppressed.

Recognizes that Indigenous children spent years in these schools separated from families, experienced physical, sexual, cultural, and spiritual abuse, and suffered deaths due to abuse, malnutrition, neglect, inadequate medical care, and disease.
