MI SB1017

Establishes an electric vehicle rebate program administered by the Department of Treasury for Michigan residents who purchase new electric vehicles after October 1, 2022.

Provides rebates of up to $2,000 for eligible applicants who submit completed applications within 120 days of purchase and meet eligibility requirements including residency and being the first title holder of the vehicle.

Limits rebates to one new electric vehicle per calendar year per applicant.

Defines "electric vehicle" as an all-electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $80,000 or less that is not subject to Federal Trade Commission used vehicle regulations.

Requires the department to develop an application process and determine eligibility upon receipt of completed applications, issuing rebates within a reasonable time if the applicant qualifies.
