Increases the benefit paid to surviving families of public safety officers who die or become permanently and totally disabled in the line of duty from $25,000 to $50,000.

Benefit is paid to the surviving spouse if available, otherwise to dependents, or to the estate if no spouse or dependents exist.

For permanently and totally disabled officers, benefit goes to the spouse, then dependents if no spouse, then to the entity providing care if no dependents.

Benefit is paid in addition to any other benefits the beneficiary receives due to the officer's death or disability.
