Prohibits health insurers from requiring face-to-face contact between health care professionals and patients when services can be appropriately provided through telemedicine, as determined by the insurer.

Requires health care professionals to provide telemedicine services only if contractually required by the insurer or clinically appropriate, and only when the provider is licensed in the state where the patient is located.

Ensures telemedicine services receive the same insurance coverage as face-to-face services, including application of copayments, coinsurances, deductibles, and approved amounts.

Defines telemedicine as electronic linkage between patients and health care professionals using secure, HIPAA-compliant interactive audio or video communication or store-and-forward online messaging.

Applies to health insurance policies delivered, issued, amended, or renewed in Michigan or covering Michigan residents, effective on the enactment date (91 days after final adjournment of the 2024 Regular Session).
