Beginning January 1, 2024, advanced practice registered nurses must enter into practice agreements with participating physicians or podiatrists as members of physician- or podiatrist-led patient care teams, with specific requirements for communication, collaboration, periodic review of patient records, and performance evaluation.

Beginning January 1, 2024, physician's assistants working with physicians or podiatrists under new or renewed practice agreements must be members of physician-led or podiatrist-led patient care teams with enhanced requirements including periodic chart review, collaborative consultation guidelines, and joint evaluation of patient services.

Advanced practice registered nurses may prescribe controlled substances only if authorized in their practice agreement beginning January 1, 2024, and may make calls or go on rounds only in accordance with a practice agreement starting that same date.

Participating physicians and podiatrists entering into practice agreements must regularly practice in the state, manage and lead their patient care team members, remain available for collaboration and consultation at all times, and ensure team members' acts are consistent with sound medical practice and patient safety.

Practice agreements must include typewritten or printed names and signatures, termination provisions with 30-day notice, protocols for alternative provider consultation, patient notification of the participating provider's identity, and conspicuous posting of provider contact information.
