Beginning September 30, 2024, and annually thereafter, the Department of Health and Human Services must submit a report to legislative appropriations and human services committees detailing foster care children's educational outcomes.

Reports must include total number of foster children by grade level, school district transfers during the academic year, and suspensions or expulsions from school.

Reports must identify foster children with chronic absenteeism, truancy, or who dropped out of school.

Reports must break down academic performance metrics by school type (public schools, public school academies, private schools, and child caring institutions), including standardized assessment achievement rates, special education enrollment, advanced placement and dual enrollment participation, and career and technical education enrollment.

Reports must include graduation and high school equivalency diploma attainment rates for foster children and youth who engaged in foster care within the previous 5 years.
