School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must permit Native American individuals to wear traditional regalia and bring traditional objects to ceremonies of honor.

"Ceremonies of honor" includes formal and informal public occasions celebrating academic, athletic, and other student achievement, such as graduation, commencement, convocation, and honor society events.

"Traditional regalia" means cultural, religious, or ceremonial clothing or wearable items representing a Native American's tribal or ancestral traditions, excluding items prohibited under Michigan law.

"Traditional objects" means cultural, religious, or ceremonial items or objects holding tribal or ancestral meaning for a Native American, excluding items prohibited under Michigan law.
