Adds new 8-year firearm and ammunition possession prohibition for persons convicted of misdemeanor involving domestic violence, running from completion of all fines, imprisonment, and probation/parole conditions.

Defines "misdemeanor involving domestic violence" as a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment involving specific offenses (sections 81, 81a, 115, 145n, 377a, 380, 411h, 520e, 540e) or comparable state/federal/local laws, where victim is spouse, dating partner, former household member, or child of the convicted person.

Modifies definition of "felony" from "4 years or more" imprisonment to "a term exceeding 1 year" to broaden offenses triggering the existing 5-year firearm and ammunition prohibition for specified felonies.

Maintains existing 3-year firearm and ammunition possession prohibitions for general felony convictions and 5-year prohibitions for specified felonies (those involving physical force, controlled substances, firearms, explosives, or burglary/breaking and entering of occupied dwellings or arson).

Preserves existing penalties of up to 5 years imprisonment or $5,000 fine for violating firearm and ammunition restrictions.
