Expands the definition of "physician" in medical examiner statutes to include MCL 333.17097 (previously 333.17084) under the public health code.

Adds "registered nurse" as a qualified medical professional who may provide attendance during home hospice care, allowing medical examiners to forgo investigation if a registered nurse or physician was present within 48 hours before death.

Modifies language regarding physician attendance requirements, allowing an "authorized representative of the attending physician" to determine cause of death in certain circumstances involving home hospice care.

Changes mandatory language from "shall" to "must" when describing county medical examiner notifications in cases involving multiple individuals with similar attributes in the same incident.

Makes the bill contingent on the enactment of Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 5043 (request no. 02381'23) of the 102nd Legislature.
