Adds new subsection (8) to MCL 257.208 effective July 16, 2024, allowing the Secretary of State to destroy certain traffic violation records after 5 years instead of longer retention periods.

Permits destruction of records for offenses carrying no points under sections 320a, 328, 629c, or 710e after 5 years on file.

Permits destruction of records for offenses carrying fewer than 3 points under sections 320a or 629c after 5 years on file.

Permits destruction of records for 3-point violations under sections 320a(1)(n), (r), or 629c after 5 years on file.

Maintains current longer retention requirements for serious violations including DUI convictions (lifetime), commercial motor vehicle violations, and other major offenses.
