Allow one or both parties to a marriage to elect to change their middle name or surname during marriage solemnization by entering the new name on the marriage license application without being required to change their name

Permit individuals to adopt surnames including: spouse's current or birth surname, combined surnames, hyphenated combinations, or a completely different surname

Allow adoption of middle names including: spouse's current or birth surname, or hyphenated combinations of current middle names and surnames

Require that all fees charged for name changes relating to marriage be the same amount regardless of which name change option is selected

Accept a certified copy of a marriage certificate as valid identification establishing a true, full name for vehicle registration purposes under MCL 257.307, with the act taking effect January 1, 2025
