Adds Part 173A to the Public Health Code to establish licensure and regulation for medical assistants in Michigan

Defines "licensed practitioner" to include physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, chiropractors, optometrists, and podiatric physicians who may supervise medical assistants

Defines "practice of medical assisting" as the performance of clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of a licensed practitioner

Defines "state licensed medical assistant" as an individual licensed or authorized under the new section to engage in medical assisting practice

Bill takes effect only if Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 5417 is also enacted into law
