Beginning October 1, 2025, and annually thereafter, school districts, intermediate school districts, public school academies, and nonpublic schools must distribute an informational notice about firearm safe storage to parents or legal guardians of enrolled students (electronically or by mail).

By October 1, 2025, the Michigan Department of Education must post English, Spanish, and Arabic versions of the informational notice on its website.

By October 1, 2025, schools must post links to the department's firearm safe storage information webpages on their own websites.

The state department, Department of Health and Human Services, schools, and their officers, board members, and employees are granted civil immunity from damages related to distribution or content of the informational notice.

This act takes effect only if House Bill No. 5450 of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into law; effective date is April 2, 2025.
